Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - ‘n Geliefde dokter wat bykans ses dekades as narkotiseur in Klerksdorpse hospitale gewerk het, is oorlede.

Dr Mike de Bruin was 94 jaar oud. Hy is op Sondag 31 Augustus  in Wilmedpark Private Hospitaal oorlede nadat hy twee dae vantevore opgeneem is weens ‘n beroerte. Hy het saam met sy vrou in Flamwood Aftree-oord gewoon.

Dr De Bruin was saam met dr Lazar Marcus die eerste twee narkotiseurs wat in Klerksdorp as spesialiste begin praktiseer het in 1961. Sy jongste seun, dr Wouter de Bruin, ‘n oftalmoloog in Kanada, het aan Klerksdorp Rekord gesê sy pa het generasies van jong dokters by die Klerksdorp- en Tshepong hospitale geleer narkose doen. “Hy was ‘n legende wat kort voor sy aftrede ‘n meriete-toekenning ontvang het as langsdienende narkotiseur in Suid-Afrika.’’

Klerksdorp Record, Orkney - It was a big celebration at Bambino Créche in Orkney last week when Jack Nkoane Zwelebanze celebrated his 92th birthday. 

Oupa Jack works in the garden at the créche. For this geriatric, age is only a number and like owner Elaine van Dalen explains, he insists on working for money and won’t except handouts. “He started working in our garden at home in 2007 and also did some work at the crèche. He refuses to stop working and while we know he is now very old, he still pitches for work every week and do what he can to keep the garden tidy.’’

Oupa Jack walks or cycles to Orkney from Kanana and attends church regularly every Sunday. His work ethic and dedication to still provide for his family, has endeared Oupa Jack to Elaine and her family. “He is trying hard even though he is getting really old. We help where we can and accommodate him. You can say he is on light garden duty. He is loved by the kids at the créche and everyone contributed to his special celebration.’’

The celebration at the créche was on Friday August 29. His birthday was on Sunday August 31.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Unemployment is approaching a provincial disaster.

The NW continues to be the only province with more unemployed people than working, and there are calls to declare the joblessness a provincial disaster.

According to the latest Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS) from Stats SA, the province has an official unemployment rate of 40.1% and an expanded unemployment rate of 54.7%, meaning more than half of its working-age population is unemployed.

Die wyn van die Rietvallei Landgoed in die Robertsonvallei was onder bespreking en die verskillende versnitte is saam met heerlike peuselhappies bedien.
