Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The Dr Kenneth Kaunda Chess Region has once again demonstrated the depth of its young chess talent, with its u20 team delivering a remarkable success at both inter-regional and national levels in 2025.

At the Gauteng Inter-Regional Chess Championships, held under the auspices of Gauteng Province Chess, the Dr Kenneth Kaunda team emerged second in their category, a testament to their preparation, unity, and strategic excellence. 

At the Mzansi Inter-Provincial Championships, also held in December, the squad continued to make their mark, as they formed part of the NW team. Against fierce competition from provinces across the nation, the team delivered a consistently strong performance and secured a well-deserved second place finish.

Klerksdorp Rekord, Potchefstroom - Jong atlete van Klerksdorp het die afgelope naweek opslae gemaak by Atletiek Suid-Afrika se sub-jeug-kampioenskap waar hulle verskeie rekords verpletter het.

Die kampioenskap het die afgelope naweek in Potchefstroom plaasgevind. Imke Swanepoel en Ryan Beets het Noordwes se naam hoog gehou. Imke het die nasionale rekords in die 80m en 100m vir meisies o11 verbeter. Sy het ook ‘n eerste plek in die 70m hekkies verwerf en aan die aflos deelgeneem. Sy is ‘n leerling in Laerskool La Hoff.

Students of the Pyro Kickboxing Club in Stilfontein participated in the Battle of the East Kickboxing Competition in Brakpan earlier this year. They competed in the following categories: Light Continuous, Points Fighting and Low Kick Light. Mohau Seepamore earned two gold medals, Siya Buthelezi gold and silver, Zaid Hoosen silver, Johannes Schoonraad two silver and a bronze and (front) Annabel De Wet (silver and gold), Keanen van Niekerk (two silver), Biané Kriel (two silver and two gold), Daniël de Wet (two bronze) and Zak Pretorius (gold). Their instructor, Shihan Martin Neff, is in front. Shalom Brown (insert) received two gold medals.

 

Klerksdorp Record, Stilfontein - The SA Hunters Frontier Shooting Club celebrated a standout year during its annual year-end award ceremony, and no one shone brighter than 14-year-old Stefan Jacobs, whose exceptional achievements have captured the attention of the local shooting community.

Stefan walked away with two of the club’s highest honours, being named Best Junior Shooter of the Year as well as the Best Men’s Shooter of the Frontier Club. His ability to outperform not only juniors but also seasoned adult competitors has earned him widespread admiration and respect.
