Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Die 100ste bestaansjaar viering van Afrikaans as amptelike taal is Vrydagaand 20 Junie by Verdant in Klerksdorp gevier. Dit was ‘n byeenkoms waar liefhebbers van kuns en boeke bymekaar gekom het vir ‘n viering wat nog lank onthou sal word. Kunstenaars wat hul liefde vir Afrikaans op skilderdoek uitgebeeld het, se kunswerke is onder die wakende oog van Zet Havenga van The B Gallery uitgestal. Die mooiste gedigte is voorgedra en selfs kortverhale is voorgelees.
Suspect caught with firearms, ammo
Klerksdorp Midweek, Orkney - A Lesotho national was scheduled to appear in the local magistrate’s court to face charges of possession of unlicensed firearms, unlawful possession of ammunition, two counts of attempted murder and contravention of the Dangerous Weapons Act.
The 31-year-old suspect was scheduled to appear in court on Monday June 23. He is also facing an additional charge of contravention of the Immigration Act.
