Klerksdorp Midweek, Potchefstroom - Klerksdorp Primary School entered the most science projects at the Eskom Expo regional science fair. A total of 84 budding young scientists from the region presented 61 research projects at the event, which took place on Friday August 2. The projects on display were evaluated by 32 judges, which included educators, specialists, academics, and dedicated Eskom Expo supporters. The most popular categories were Engineering, Energy, Environmental Science, Computer Science and Software Development, and Social Sciences.

New knee surgery a first

Dr Hannes Jonker - a member of the Orthosport group practice - performed the first Kinematically Aligned (KA) knee arthroplasty on the continent on Wednesday July 24, using the revolutionary SpheriKA prosthesis. Pioneering its regional debut, he completed not one but three successful KA procedures.

Die graad is op Vrydag 2 Augustus aan hom oorhandig. Oosthuizen is vereer vir uitstaande akademiese meriete in Aptekerswese en sy leierskap van Merck, ‘n Amerikaanse maatskappy betrokke by die vervaardiging van medisyne en entstowwe wat wêreldwyd sake doen. Die NWU wou hom ook vereer vir die uitsonderlike bydrae tot die bevordering van die NWU se visie en missie met sy roemryke internasionale loopbaan.
