Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A Jouberton police officer was honoured at the NW provincial excellence awards that was held at Sun City last week.
Capt Adél Kruger received the IPID trophy as a special award for her heroism last year September when she foiled an armed robbery at a local supermarket. “Upon entering the shop while an armed robbery was ongoing, a shootout ensued between her and five robbers. Although she was shot in the leg, she managed to shoot and kill one robber. Another robber was also injured, but fled with his accomplices. He was later traced and arrested by police. All stolen property that included money, cigarettes and cellular phones were recovered. Her bravery saved the life of the innocent and ensured that the perpetrators were identified,” said Col Adele Myburgh, police spokesperson.
